High steel demand will sustain global anthracite market
My presentation at the Global Carbon Congress in Dubai explored the impact of geopolitical challenges on key resources and how anthracite demand will be sustained by the high demand for steel globally.
Geopolitical challenges and heightened protectionism have forced countries to reconsider how they secure supply of strategic resources. Steel is at the centre of this shift, but the steel sector is only as good as its key inputs, including anthracite, which is ideal due to its high clean combustion profile and energy density.
About 52% of the anthracite market revenue comes from steel, and with the anticipated increase of Electric Arc Furnace technology in steel manufacturing, anthracite supply will be crucial. Aside from steel, other anthracite markets like Pulverised Coal Injection and Ferroalloys are projected to show growth.
